Tomás is from Cádiz and has raced bikes for longer than some of his rivals have been alive; he calls it experience, the team calls it 61 starts. He rides with his knee so low that the crew changes his sliders more often than his tyres. Eleven podiums, three wins and one sandwich eaten on the grid that became a team tradition. He still checks his own chain before every session, because his father told him to in 1997.
“At sixty-two degrees the bike stops arguing with you. That’s where I like to talk.”
